Nucs (nucleus colonies or starter hives) consist of 4 frames covered in worker bees, and a mated queen bee: 2 frames of brood & bees, 1 frame of food, and a drawn/mixed frame to provide laying space for the queen.
Nucs are available through the month of June and are available for pick up only. Nucs are provided in convenient ventilated transport boxes but must be installed into full sized beekeeping equipment following receipt to allow for colony growth & expansion. Nucs will quickly grow into full-sized bee colonies and must be given space to do so.
Our bees are gentle, productive, hearty, adapted to Ontario climate, and reflect Ontario bee breeders selection criteria.

Nucs are pick up only unless otherwise arranged. Exact pick up dates for nucs are determined in accordance with spring-time conditions: customers who have purchased nucs will be contacted in the spring and notified of pick up dates and provided transport instruction. Nucs are non-refundable whether customer picks up or not.
